I am a pet lover and I love being with pets because I grew up that way. I’ve grown up in a home full of pets, my first jobs were baby sitting and dog walking. I have always loved and gotten along well with almost all dogs and cats.
I have owned a couple dogs since childhood. I had one a small terrier as teenager named Jazz. She was a beautiful little terrier and very very smart. I did not walk her as we live on 5 acres in Kenya so she had a lot of space to run and play. However, I would play with her, feed her and we slept together every night. I can honestly say that dog was my family. We had a great experience and she was very attached to me. Unfortunately one of our other dogs attacked her one evening and due to negligence at the vet, we lost her. As a child we always had Great Danes, so I’m also very comfortable around larger dogs.
My service stands out because I care about your pet. I do not believe in walking more than a households pets at the same time. I only pet sit for one household at a time as well because I don’t believe in destabilizing a pets environment so heavily that location, surrounding, caregiver and a whole new pet to get along with change all at once. It is hard enough for a pet to synthesize when they are being taken care of by anyone who isn’t their owner without throwing more pets in the mix. I know a lot of people say this but I am actually good with dogs. I am a dog person. I had a dog named Oreo who we rescued from an abusive home. When we first got Oreo she would not even move from underneath the car. I would lie out on the ground and talk to her and slide her food and just try and coax her in to comfortability as the poor thing was so traumatized. Eventually, she became comfortable coming out from under the car. With time, she even stopped running away from all men, she feared men because her abuser had been a man. She grew to be healthy and loving and I would happily show you pictures of Oreo! She lives with my boyfriends mom back in Kenya and you’d never know her past was so troubling. I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but I know it was the amount of care that I showed her. That’s the type of care I would show any pet! I also offer to come over while you are home, if you feel your pet is nervous around new people so they can get a bit more comfortable around me!
I love every second of it except maybe picking up dog poo but I don’t think anyone likes that part.
