從小我就很喜歡小動物，也養過很多種動物，如狗、貓、鳥、老鼠、兔子...，對於寵物都非常疼愛，對待毛孩如同待小孩一樣。過去20年我陸續救過數隻流浪的狗狗，先安置在找合適的人送養。
因為太喜歡小動物，所以同學朋友若撿到小動物都會說“交給佳美”，而我每次也不負期望的救活牠們還幫牠們娶妻生子呢！
迄今養狗已有30幾年經驗與養貓7年經驗，目前家有九隻貓，都是從小養大的，因此對於貓咪/狗狗的細微毛病，我都能很快察覺並即早就醫治療
